Josie Cirocco

I have been practicing yoga for over 28 years.  My initial motivation to practice yoga was for the physical benefits of yoga.  Over the years, my motivation has evolved to explore the deeper benefits of yoga – metaphysical and spiritual.  Practicing yoga, is to experience a balance of the whole person, connecting the mind with body movement to nourish and nurture the soul.

I have completed 300 hours Yoga Teacher Training with My Health Yoga.  I practice Yoga daily and teach every day across three different organisations plus private classes.  I have tertiary qualifications in Business and Theology and continue to study Yoga and Spirituality.  I have recently enrolled with My Health Yoga for the Level 2 Yoga Teacher Training.

What is Yoga?

The ancient practice of yoga has evolved in the East for thousands of years.  Yoga originated from the Sanskrit Yuja which means ‘to join or to unite.’  Over recent years, the West has welcomed and recognized the wholistic benefits of yoga.  In our contemporary world today, it is a reminder that we have an opportunity, every day, to connect with ourselves with the harmonious practice of yoga.

Yogis (all who practice yoga) believe that yoga works with the mind, body and spirit/soul to restore health, vitality and energy.  The practice of yoga is unique to each individual.  The way one person practices yoga may be very different to the way another person practices.  We celebrate this uniqueness in yoga where we can express ourselves in different ways, and still be connected as one.

Yoga is for every day. Daily practice helps to maintain a balance between mind, body and spirit/soul. The benefits of physical practice united with breath work and centering yourself includes increased flexibility and mobility; increased energy and vitality; improved balance and core strength; toning the body; decreased tension; improved digestion and circulation; relieving emotions and encountering stillness to connect mind, body and spirit/soul as one.
