Bowen Therapy
Bowen Therapy
Bowen Therapy is considered a wonderful therapy by itself and particularly when used in conjunction with other therapies such as Reflexology.
Bowen Therapy is an Australian natural therapy which was developed by Mr Tom Bowen (1916-1982) from Geelong in Victoria. Tom Bowen’s innovative approach saw him treating some 13,000 patients a year.
The basis of Tom Bowen’s approach was to stimulate the body’s energy systems, aiming to restore energy balance and wellbeing. His work continues to be popular today, being carried out on both humans and animals.
The method is relatively gentle and relaxing with treatment sessions consisting of sequences of small gentle movements at specific sites on the body, in a gentle cross-fibre action across muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Another Tip:
Walking for short periods of time after a treatment is thought to facilitate the elimination of toxins.
The aim of any Bowen treatment is to address a broad range of musculoskeletal and emotional conditions including feelings of stress and certain other emotional disorders, upper and lower back pain, neck and head tension, musculoskeletal pain, digestive and hormonal complaints.
Bowen Therapy’s strength was considered by Tom Bowen to lie in the fact that it balances the physical, mental and emotional planes. Its rejuvenating effect has the potential to improve quality of life via energy balancing. Many of our clients report relief from pain and discomfort and a sense of emotional harmony following their treatments.
Another great aspect of Bowen Therapy is that the therapy can be performed through light-weight clothing so there is no need to undress.
