Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a wonderful therapy by itself and when used in conjunction with Reflexology, its abilities amplify. Bowen is an Australian natural therapy which was developed by Mr. Tom Bowen (1916-1982) from Geelong, Victoria. Tom’s reputation and innovative approach saw him treating some 13,000 patients a year.

The approach is a simple energy connection procedure that instigates a change in the energy balance of the body that stimulates the body’s innate healing abilities. Bowen's work continues to be successfully carried out on both human and animal subjects.

The Bowen method is relatively gentle and relaxing, and in combination with Reflexology gives the client a full body relaxation treatment. A treatment session consists of sequences of small gentle movements at a specific site on the body, in a gentle to firm cross-fibre action of muscles, tendons and ligaments.  This facilitates the balancing of a broad range of conditions.

Another great aspect of Bowen is that the therapy can be performed through light-weight clothing, so there is no need to undress. The removal of socks and shoes for the Reflexology portion of the treatment is the most you will need to do - and Reflexology doesn’t tickle!!!

Drinking up to eight glasses a day of water – every day before and continually after each treatment – will encourage the body’s response mechanisms. Your body will thank you for it and you will notice the difference. (When we refer to water we mean the pure H20 Kind - not mixed with coffee, tea or cordial.) You will be amazed at how tasty spring or filtered water can be once you get into the habit. Walking for short periods of time after a treatment will also facilitate the elimination of toxins.

Bowen therapy’s strength lies in the fact that it balances the physical, mental and emotional planes. Its rejuvenating effect has the potential to improve quality of life by achieving energy balance and emotional harmony as well as providing relief from pain and discomfort.

As stated before, Bowen Therapy can be successful when used on animals - horses and dogs are particularly receptive. Working on horse and rider, gives the team the potential to be balanced, pain-free and fluid in their movement, enhancing the connection between them.

By giving yourself the time out to relax in this way you will begin to achieve mental clarity and improve your ability to cope with the stresses of day-to-day life.
Conditions that have responded well include: stress and emotional disorders, upper and lower back pain, neck and head tension, musculoskeletal pain, digestive and hormonal complaints to name a few.
